Machines do have an enduring beauty that organic matter has a hard time keeping up with. When something wears out you replace the part and polish it back up to its old shine, effectively creating immortality, while when the same thing happens to a human... well, it's more difficult to repair, we'll say.
Oh, naturally; that isn't what I meant. What I meant was that, say... getting a new arm wouldn't actually change anything except bodily function. That's how humans are; the only problem is that you can't just build new parts for them.
