[backdated to the 7th I KNOW THE REGAINS ARE LATE ssssh]

[Dist had spent most of the day in bed. After the party the day before, by the time he'd gotten home he was exhausted and when he woke up he was wretchedly hungover, so he'd called in sick to the library and went back to sleep with a pillow over his head. Eventually the sickness and headache had subsided enough for him to go get something to eat... and notice that he had another couple of gifts. The first one made him choke a little; it was a simple photograph, of him and Jade as children with the Professor. He'd set it up in his room, making a note to find a fitting frame before going outside.

...

AAAAAAAAAAAH CHAIR. Oh, he'd missed it so, and what with his acquired weakness he'd needed it more than ever.

So, Mayfield, you'll have a crazy man in a flying salmon-covered chair pretty much everywhere today, mostly outside because the thing is huge and typically won't fit inside the front door without some rotating. He's looking far more excited than he really should be, really, but hey! Flying chair! And truly flying, it seems, not just hovering; sometimes he's high up, sometimes he's close to the ground; it all depends. On what, probably that's only obvious to Dist.]

Not as such. It's brilliantly simple; the power comes from utilizing the fon slots in the materials to channel a concentrated arte, producing lift. Specifically it deals with the third fonon, which is the fonon of wind.

[He tilts the chair back a bit and indicates a box on the bottom of the chair, pointing his foot at it.]

This is the closest thing to a power source that the chair uses; it's where the fonon cluster is concentrated. It's all very high-level stuff; others from my world couldn't manage to generate lift without the help of devices from the Dawn Age. Imbeciles.

[He scoffs a little bit, tilting the chair back down. He never hid his disdain back home, but hey, he was the boss, what were they going to do? Leave? Not if they wanted to keep working. Not that Quinn would know anything about that.]

Magic where I come from sure works differently. Still, it's cool hearin' about how it all works! I hope when I leave here, I can remember all this cool stuff.

[He looks the chair over, inspecting it.] That so? Well this does look pretty fancy. And pretty handy, really. Must be fun, zippin' around on this thing.

It's wonderful. I'll admit, you're one of the first I've explained it to; you're not from my world and can't use or make fon machinery, so there's no danger of you stealing my design.

I'd never do such a thing without permission. [Maybe.] Plus I don't think I could ever build such a thing with what we got on hand for supplies here. It ain't much.

Well, I'd have to kill you if you did!

[He's grinning as he says it, so it's not immediately apparent whether or not he's joking.]

[Quinn laughs anyway, and throws his hands up innocently.] You're secret is safe with me, man, promise!

So, can two people go for a ride on this thing or would it get weighed down too much?

It could handle the weight of two people. But... where would they sit?
