[20] he's a casualty dressed to the teeth

[backdated to morning!]

[Again, Dist wakes up in a great deal of pain. After he opens his eyes, however he notes that he's... back on his couch in the garage. The city didn't even see fit to put him in the bed inside. He sits up slowly, wincing at the pull on his back and testing his legs carefully. They're still torn up, but he can move them. He ventures outside after getting dressed, blinking up at the sky; it's a welcome sight after the horrible grey of the past week.

After a moment or two he notices the box on the ground, placed in front of the garage rather than the doorstep. The city is obviously back to its annoying sense of humor. He walks over to the box and kneels rather than bending. When he opens it he makes a delighted noise and grins, although the mouth motion makers him remember just how broken his jaw is.

He has his clothes back! EEE!

He scampers back into the garage to change before venturing outside again.]

You're injured and forcing yourself to deal with it rather than--more helpfully to everyone--getting it fixed. That's foolishness and weakness in the form of overblown pride. Even I ask for assistance.

[Dist turns away from her and fastens his jacket; it's even more effective than usual because he finally has his coat with the collar on it, which helps with that barrier.]

Whatever.

If you're not gone in a few hours, I'm throwing you out. I have something I need to attend to.

Well, I don't need your house either, or your attitude. I'll find someplace better.

[He still doesn't turn around.]

...I'll see what I can do about helping you get out, then.

[...SIGH. She tried to help you, Dist.]

[identity profile] buildstherobots.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
[Dist whirls on her.]

Didn't you hear me? I said I didn't need your help! Or Jecht's, or anyone else's! I take care of myself!

Then take care of yourself somewhere else!

[identity profile] buildstherobots.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
I will!

[He storms across the garage and bends, grabbing the bottom of the garage door and hauling it up... and then he screams.]

[identity profile] buildstherobots.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
[Dist doesn't even hear her speak; he's shaking and he sinks to the ground, trying to ignore the sudden tear of pain across his back. He honestly can't tell if it's finally bleeding or not.]
thenorthernwall: (Get ready to die.)

[personal profile] thenorthernwall 2010-07-13 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Idiot... [She walks up and looks him over. She can smell the blood, if not see it seeping through to his coat.] I'll go get May.

[identity profile] buildstherobots.livejournal.com 2010-07-13 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
[Dammit, he can't even leave properly. He moves to take his coat off, grateful that it's zippered rather than buttoned so his hands have to do less work. Getting it off is slow work, but he doesn't want it getting bloody if he can help it. The shirt is less important.]

It'll close.

[The protest is weak, though.]

You're--hn.

[Aaaand she goes to get May.]

[Whenever they get back, Dist will have fled the garage, taking his clothes and a few other items with him. The Kaiser is still in the yard; he will doubtlessly be retrieving it at a later time.

It's amazing the idiot's managed to live a full thirty-five years.]
