[52] someone keeps moving my chair
[backdated to the 7th I KNOW THE REGAINS ARE LATE ssssh]
[Dist had spent most of the day in bed. After the party the day before, by the time he'd gotten home he was exhausted and when he woke up he was wretchedly hungover, so he'd called in sick to the library and went back to sleep with a pillow over his head. Eventually the sickness and headache had subsided enough for him to go get something to eat... and notice that he had another couple of gifts. The first one made him choke a little; it was a simple photograph, of him and Jade as children with the Professor. He'd set it up in his room, making a note to find a fitting frame before going outside.
...
AAAAAAAAAAAH CHAIR. Oh, he'd missed it so, and what with his acquired weakness he'd needed it more than ever.
So, Mayfield, you'll have a crazy man in a flying salmon-covered chair pretty much everywhere today, mostly outside because the thing is huge and typically won't fit inside the front door without some rotating. He's looking far more excited than he really should be, really, but hey! Flying chair! And truly flying, it seems, not just hovering; sometimes he's high up, sometimes he's close to the ground; it all depends. On what, probably that's only obvious to Dist.]

You approached me! You're the one trying to steal!

"Ahhhh! Hey, what the heck!"
no subject
My, we're certainly high up, aren't we!

[Have a violently shaking chair; he's mostly trying to scare her, rather than dislodge her, but still.]

I already told you, no!

[Nevermind that he'd be doing the exact same thing in her place. Ssh.]

"You're useless! I bet you didn't even build that thing at all! That's why you won't make me one - you don't know how!"
no subject
Oh no you didn't.
Grrrrrrrrl.
Dist snarls and rears the chair back, does a flip - do not ask how he's staying in the chair for this, because he certainly won't tell you - and snaps forward as he comes down. Yeah, he's actually trying to fling her into the ground now.]
Ask anyone from my world how it works! Anyone! I'm the most brilliant goddamn mind on Auldrant and I'll be damned if I'm going to put up with slander from a useless insect like you!

[She shoots out a few more tentacles to try to stabilize herself.]
"Well... this whole thing is your fault anyway! Flying around on an awesome looking chair like that! Anyone would want to take it!"
no subject
I still don't hear my apology.

[Well, he supposes that will have to do. It's a victory for him! Though he's still irritated as he lowers back down to the ground, as promised; if she tries it again, though, he is absolutely not hesitating to kick her in the face.]
no subject
"Okay, now hurry up and make me one!"
no subject
[If it'll make her go away? Sure.]
Just find me some fonons. Big a bag as you can carry. I'm sure a sharp girl like you will know exactly where to find them.
[He's not above a smirk and a little giggle, which may or may not give away the snipe hunt for what it really is, but he's not sticking around to give her time to ask about it.]

They're shiny!
[Well, it is true; visible fonon clusters are rather shiny. It's not technically a lie!]

Good, good! As many as you can carry, now!
